Special Interest Group Meetings

TCEA has seven Special Interest Groups (SIGs) for members who want to become even more involved in technology education and network throughout the year with other educators in similar positions. Each SIG is hosting a meeting for current members and those interested in learning more about joining the SIG. Some events require advance registration to attend; however, limited seating may be available for onsite registrants. Thank you for a very productive SIG Officer Training last month. To keep the momentum going, please read this email in its entirety and pay close attention to action items with deadlines as there is minimal flexibility.

  • Action Item: If you haven't submitted your SIG’s Poster Session, please do so before May 31 through this link: convention.tcea.org/presenters.
  • Once submitted, or if you already have, please let me know by providing me the 6-digit session ID for staff to be aware that the submitted proposal is identified with your SIG.

  • Action Item: Submit your SIG’s preferred event details for the 2019 TCEA Convention & Exposition by August  1

    • Will your SIG have a meeting, breakfast, or lunch?
    • What is your preferred date/time of this event? Please provide your top three choices. First availability will be awarded in the order received.
    • Will you charge a price per person to attend?
    • Is SIG membership required to attend?
    • How many people do you want to limit this to?
    • Will you provide any food and beverage?
    • If so, what is your food and beverage budget per person?

  • If you have chosen to provide any food and beverage for your SIG meeting, please review the following and determine your budget per person based on the information below.

  • Based on the Grand Hyatt’s menu pricing, please budget for the following per person. Note: pricing is valid through September 2018, please be aware that the rate may increase. This adjusted pricing will be provided to you in late 2018 if it affects your event.
    • Continental Breakfast: $29-31 per person
      • Continental Breakfast Includes fruit, Danish, juices, coffee, and tea
    • Breakfast Enhancements: $8-12 additional per person
      • Breakfast enhancement includes French Toast, Breakfast Tacos, Sandwich, Kolaches, Oatmeal
    • Plated Lunch: $47-52 per person
    • Buffet Lunch: $56 per person

  • Please note that any food and beverage event will include a 25% service charge on top of the above pricing with no TCEA discount. The current menu can be found here.  As you can see, there are many customized meal options. If you prefer something beyond what was provided below, please let us know along with your preferred charge per person, and we will let you know if this is possible. All final menu selections will be sent to each SIG in the fall to be confirmed.
